Registration in the CEC can be obtained first in time when submitting the lists

The two DPS may block each other from participating in the upcoming elections if they do not resolve their issues by then. This is what lawyers predicted. The dispute will be resolved by the party’s statutes and the court, and not by the two chairmen, Delyan Peevski and Jevdet Chakarov, as “24 Chasa” already wrote.

“The CEC cannot register two parallel lists of the same party. If all the documents are in order, they should register the first one on time. After that, if there are those who are dissatisfied, they can appeal to YOU”, Associate Professor Borislav Tsekov explained the procedure.

Assoc. Nataliya Kiselova recalled that years ago, when voting was still done with colored ballots, “battles were fought” over who would get the blue, green, red, etc. The cherished color was given to those who managed to enter the CEC first.

“And now it will be like that, whoever registers first will have an advantage”, added Prof. Tsekov. “However, what the Supreme Court will request as additional evidence is a separate issue,” he explained.

The lawyer and former royal deputy recalled that when registering a party or coalition, the Central Election Commission does not require the presentation of a decision of a collective body to participate in the elections.

“If the decision on registration is revoked by the SAC, it will give instructions to the CEC on what documents to require for possible re-registration. But it is possible that in the end they will remain unregistered”, suggested Tsekov. And Associate Professor Kiselova is of the opinion that if they enter into a legal battle over the registration of the elections, the two DPS may block each other.
