Today, from 07:00 to 17:00, the bar union elects its two titular representatives and two alternates to represent them before the Council of the Magistracy (CM), where the main candidates are Óscar Paciello (current titular CM) with List P, Enrique Berni (Colorado Cartist councillor) with List A, and Gerardo Bobadilla (of Jorge Bogarin’s group) with List B.

Berni’s list has Alfredo Maggi as second and Wilsen Salas and Santiago Quevedo as substitutes; while Bobadilla’s list has Rolando Aquino as second and Zully Villalba and Julio Cáceres as substitutes; and finally, Paciello has Juan Sosa Bareiro as second and José Valenzuela and Carolina Ferreira de Gorostiaga as substitutes.

The list that nominated the lawyer and former judge Tadeo Zarratea resigned at the end of last month, in favor of Paciello’s candidacy, as reported by the Electoral Justice itself, which eliminated the list in time from the voting machine software.

Tables and premises. A total of 170 voting stations will be set up in 16 locations distributed in the departmental capitals and the Capital. They will send a total of 250 voting machines, including contingency machines.

In Asunción, due to the greater volume of voters, it will be the only city where more than one location will be enabled so that registered lawyers can vote.

One of the voting locations will be the headquarters of the Electoral Justice, located on Eusebio Ayala Avenue, which will have 40 voting tables. The other location will be the Sports Center of the National Sports Secretariat (SND), where legal professionals will have 20 tables to vote.

The Electoral Justice announced that during the elections of the lawyers’ union for representatives in the Council of the Judiciary (CM), the only document that will be used to vote will be the police identity card for the 37,831 qualified lawyers.

In the interior, several cities will enable the palaces of Justice, such as Concepcion, San Pedro del Ycuamandyyú, Caacupé, Villarrica, Coronel Oviedo, Caazapá and Encarnación, among other points.

It was reported that the Transmission of Preliminary Electoral Results (TREP) system will be applied at the end of the election day, so the Electoral Justice will inform, on its website and in real time, the upload of the results of the scrutiny.

Activities. The president of the TSJE, Jorge Bogarín González, is scheduled to start at 07:00 the election day with a greeting to the media and lawyers who will participate, whether as candidates or as voters, of these elections.

During the day, the members of the special commission for the Implementation of Technology for the Voting and Scrutiny System will provide statements to the communicators present, updating the development of the elections.

In addition, the statements of both Minister Bogarín and the electoral authorities will be transmitted through the official profiles of the Electoral Justice on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. The TSJE auditorium will be open to journalists to follow the activities.

37,831 lawyers are authorized to vote in the elections, according to the registry carried out by the Supreme Court.
