The professional relationship between People’s Artist Le Khanh and Thuong Tin

People’s Artist Le Chuc – the uncle of People’s Artist Le Khanh, when sharing with Dan Viet, said that he still remembers the story his niece told him when they were filming together. Actor Thuong Tinthat is, she pushed her co-star into a lotus pond just because of a kiss that was not in the script. And that shows that, when she was young, People’s Artist Le Khanh was very serious about her work as well as maintaining her image.

Talking to Dan Viet, People’s Artist Le Khanh said that she had acted with actor Thuong Tin in many films. For example, the films “Obsession” by director Duc Hoan; “Hunting Robbers”, “Who is K07” by director Tran Phuong; “Human Skin Mask” by director Chanh Tin… From these films, People’s Artist Le Khanh had a close relationship as a colleague and friend with actor Thuong Tin. Trust.

“The film “Obsession” by director Duc Hoan marked my return to cinema after 10 years of fulfilling my commitment to the stage when I was accepted into the Youth Theater in 1978, which was “not to act in films” to create a stage style. In this film, I was lucky to co-star with Mr. Thuong Tin and Mr. Tran Van. In the film, the characters of Le Khanh, Thuong Tin and Tran Van were caught in a love triangle. Character of Thuong Tin at first they were soldiers but then “lost the flow” to the other side.

In this film, there is a scene that I can never forget but perhaps also haunts Mr. Thuong Tin. That is because we played a couple in love, the director really wanted to have romantic scenes. The farewell scene between my character and Mr. Thuong Tin’s character was filmed by the lotus pond. I was very young at that time so I was very afraid of kissing and hugging scenes… At that time, actors were still very clumsy when acting out intimate and emotional scenes, not as beautiful as later. The kissing scenes were awkward and somehow offensive, not beautiful at all and I really objected to that way of filming.

But even if I don’t like it, I’m an actor, I still have to follow the director’s request. Before doing that, I also have to discuss with my co-stars to see if they share my point of view. At 12 midnight, I still can’t sleep and the scene is to be filmed the next day. I kept pacing back and forth, but decided to go down and discuss it with Mr. Thuong Tin. I also expressed my point of view that the process of getting to that kiss is more important than rushing into the kiss.

I had to flatter and analyze carefully to make Mr. Thuong Tin agree with me. After listening to me for a while, Mr. Thuong Tin also said: “That’s right, I’m also bored with acting those scenes! I’m acting in my role and the director calls cut. Or I’m not emotional enough to lead to a kiss, but the director keeps calling “kiss… kiss”. In short, I don’t like acting those scenes either.”

I felt relieved when I heard what Thuong Tin said, and went to sleep with peace of mind. The next day, when I went to the set, I was still firmly convinced that if my co-star said that, everything would be too simple. Who would have thought that, while I was standing next to the edge of the raft in the middle of the lotus pond, in the distance was a boat belonging to the director, a boat belonging to the cameraman… as soon as I heard director Duc Hoan shout “start”, Thuong Tin grabbed me and demanded a kiss. Instinctively, I was startled and reacted. With one hand, I pushed Thuong Tin away, with the other foot, I kicked him hard, causing him to fall into the lotus pond.

At that time, Mr. Thuong Tin was also surprised and fell into the lotus pond, wet from head to toe. The filming crew was also very surprised, while the camera was running, Mr. Thuong Tin rolled down, causing the boat to sway and almost capsize. In short, my reflex made the whole crew very surprised and silent, not thinking that I would react so strongly.

As for me, I stood there, my mouth wide open like in a Korean movie… not understanding what had happened because everything happened so fast. After a while, I suddenly realized: “Oh no, I just kicked Thuong Tin and he fell into the lake.” Then I burst into tears, both angry and scared. In the end, the director still agreed to film a romantic scene but without any kiss.”

Thuong Tin “haunted” by the kick of People’s Artist Le Khanh

Previously, actor Thuong Tin also shared that he had worked with many female co-stars, but People’s Artist Le Khanh was the one who “haunted” him the most.

“When filming the scene where the two of them were cuddling by the hut on the lotus pond, I remembered that Le Khanh had given us instructions beforehand, so I felt a little embarrassed. I immediately asked the director: “How do we kiss in this scene? I find it difficult, sis?” The director said: “Just do it.”

Hearing that, I just kissed Le Khanh, immediately Le Khanh kicked me, causing me to fall from the raft into the lotus pond. At that time, many people were standing there filming, making me feel very self-conscious about my profession because it seemed like I was being greedy and doing something wrong,” Thuong Tin said.

After that “half-laughing, half-crying” incident, actors Thuong Tin and Le Khanh still maintain a good working relationship.

According to People’s Artist Le Khanh, after the movie “the first time they acted together”, both of them continued to be invited by director Tran Phuong to appear in the movie “Hunting Robbers” directed by him.

“When the movie “Obsession” had not finished filming yet, Thuong Tin and I were invited to act in the movie “Hunting Robbers” by director Tran Phuong. In this movie, Thuong Tin plays the role of the robber Bach Hai Duong – a real character in the Southwest region, who specializes in robbing the rich to share and help the poor. This robber falls in love with Bang Thanh, played by me.

This girl Bang Thanh wanted to escape from the bandit Bach Hai Duong, so she asked to join the church and become a nun. However, the bandit Bach Hai Duong refused to let go of this love and overcame all barriers of the church to approach this nun Bang Thanh. After that, Bang Thanh got caught in a love triangle with the bandit Bach Hai Duong and the police officer Nam Ha.

After that film, the director saw that Le Khanh and Thuong Tin’s acting became more and more compatible, so he invited them to join a new film. Usually, when a film crew gets along well, they want to make every film together. At that time, the crew of Tran Phuong (director), Pham Viet Thanh (cameraman), and Tat Binh (assistant director) of Feature Film Studio I always went together and created a series of famous films.

We were invited to act in the film “Who is K07?” – a film directed by Tran Phuong under the order of Da Nang Police. In each film, Thuong Tin and I have very special memories. Thanks to that, we later had a very close relationship,” People’s Artist Le Khanh confided.
