The international chess festival “Baku Open” is taking place in the capital.
As reported by İdman.biz, Group A includes 126 players, including 23 grandmasters.
Azerbaijan is represented by Rauf Mamedov, Gadir Huseynov, Aydin Suleymanli, Magomed Muradli, Gunay Mamedzade, Govhar Beydullaeva, Ulviya Fatalieva, Khanim Balajayeva, Gulnar Mamedova and other chess players.
The total prize fund of the festival, which is held in the Baku Sports Palace, was 50 thousand US dollars.
After seven rounds, Indian chess players 1. Puranik Abhimanyu and S. Narayanan are at the top of the table with 6 points each. Four players, including Rauf Mamedov, are half a point behind.
