jpnn.com – PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir provided an explanation regarding the postponement of the 2023/24 League 1 season.

Previously, PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) officially postponed the 31st week of League 1.

This postponement was made to support the agenda of the Indonesian U-23 National Team which will take part in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup from April 15 to May 3.

The League 1 postponement letter itself has been issued by PSSI with number 1367/UDN/815/III-2024.

Erick said this decision was the best for the club and the national team.

“PSSI certainly has an obligation to prepare the national team and also defend the interests of the club.”

“Therefore, the policy of temporarily pausing competitions during the U-23 Asian Cup is the best step and solution,” said Erick.

Furthermore, Erick understands that League 1 clubs are entering a crucial phase.
