Stop the requirement for vaccinations for the admission of children to nursery and nursery schools. The League requested this with the amendment presented by Senator Claudio Borghi to the waiting list bill that provides for the revision of the Lorenzin Law.
“They considered my amendment against the 12 mandatory vaccinations for children (under penalty of exclusion from the university). As long as I know the correct game that amendment is mine – Borghi claims on X – .There should be freedom of choice on these issues both for those in favor and those against”, asked the Senate of its advice to move to a recommendation by removing the obligation.
Lupi: “Irresponsible”
Noi Moderates leader Maurizio Lupi opposed it. “Standing on compulsory vaccination for children is scientific nonsense that will have dangerous consequences and is not part of the government’s plan which aims to protect the young and the most vulnerable, both healthy and economic and social aspects”.
“It is the responsibility of politicians to renew trust in medical research every day: if today life expectancy has increased significantly, it is because science has made new medicines and new treatments available to us. Asking for trust in research is irresponsible,” Lupi added.
Petition on Change.org
A petition on ‘Change.org’ also went in this direction to reiterate that ‘this is not the time to kill the law on compulsory vaccination’. It was launched by the pediatrician Rocco Russo after the debate on the presentation by the Senator of the League, Claudio Borghi, of the amendment to the bill on the waiting lists which provides for the elimination of the vaccination obligation provided for by the Lorenzin law. “The law on compulsory vaccination for access to school, with all the important issues involved, has proven to be a useful tool for increasing specific levels of the vaccination coverage”, also launched the petition that launched today and has received 340 signatures.
As for measles, “before the introduction of the same Law, the levels of vaccination coverage, within 24 months, for the 2014 group was 87.21%, while currently, within 24 months, for the 2020 group they are 94.38% (this means that in our area the 22,755 children under 24 months who are not protected against measles) – we read in the petition – If we analyze the vaccination coverage data in the age group 5-6 years (birth group 2015) we have approx. more than 73,000 children in our region who do not seem to have adequate protection with one or two doses of influenza vaccine if we analyze the vaccination coverage data at 18 years of age (group 2004), the same thing seems to be surprising too. as in our region more than 37,000 eighteen-year-olds have not received the first dose of measles and more than 67,000 have not received the second dose of measles”.
“Obviously with these data, we are not at all surprised by the current epidemiological picture of our country from which it appears that in the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 June 2024 alone, 556 cases of Measles has been notified – complete the document – From the above, considering what is reported in the body rules, it is clear that the criteria for the three-year evaluation of epidemiological data and regional vaccination, aimed at the elimination of vaccines self-obligation, is absolutely not satisfied “.
