Kochi: Chemical leakage in the city’s Adani gas pipeline. Due to this, strong smell spread in Kalamasery, Kakkanad, Edappally and Kusat areas. The leak is tert-butyl mercaptone, which gives natural gas its odor.

Adani company officials said that there was no other risk after the strong smell and the leak was stopped quickly. The chemical has a rotten egg smell. At the same time, health experts are also of the opinion that if the chemical is inhaled for a long time, it will cause discomfort to the skin and eyes.

It may also cause shortness of breath in some people. Some may also experience headaches. Meanwhile, the leakages that followed the fire at the Brahmapuram waste plant have left people in a big panic.
