Investigating journalists, based on leaked data, found that six dozen tractors allegedly bought by the Kazakh company “Safelogistic KZ” never made it to the country of destination, all of them went to Moscow.
“We received information about more than six dozen tractor semi-trailers, which the Vilnius company exported from Lithuania during that period, declaring trade with Kazakhstan. The value of the tractors sold to the alleged Kazakhs in just half a year is about 6 million euros”, – about the activities of the fined company in 2023. in the first half states “Siena”.
The company “Safelogistic KZ” indicated as the buyer of the tractors was established only in 2022. in April, a few weeks after the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine and after the European Union (EU) had already introduced the first sanctions against the aggressor.
According to Siena, publicly available data show that Safelogistic KZ operates and pays taxes to the national budget. Last year, the company paid nearly 15 million tenge (Kazakh currency – ELTA) in taxes to the budget of Kazakhstan, which, when converted, will amount to just over 27,000 tenge. euros.
As announced by the Customs Department in August, 6 tractor semi-trailers were also confiscated from companies that violated the sanctions.
The penalized company, when concluding transactions with companies registered in Kazakhstan, Belarus and Turkey, did not ensure compliance with the restrictions and obligations set by the international sanctions implemented in the Republic of Lithuania, therefore the transportation of the detained vehicles was assessed as a violation of international sanctions by the Lithuanian Customs Department.
