Leaked Images Suggest Panasonic Is Developing New Titanium Lumix MFT Camera

Leaked images from a European retailer suggest Panasonic is developing a new Micro Four Thirds (MFT) camera featuring a titanium-finish body. The listing, appearing on the Kamera Express website, shows a device that closely resembles the full-frame Lumix S9 but utilizes an MFT mount.

Retailer Listing Reveals Unusual Design Details

The lens release button is not located to the right of the mount, as is usual for Micro Four Thirds. Instead, it sits in the same position as on the Lumix S9. Although the pin on the mount appears to be on the right as usual, this button placement remains an anomaly.

While the leaked images show a camera with a titanium finish and black faux leather covering, several details have led observers to urge caution. The authenticity of the images remains unconfirmed. Photorumors noted that attempts to determine if the images were AI-generated were inconclusive. Despite these uncertainties, the retailer appearance serves as the first indication that the manufacturer could actually be working on a new hardware entry for the format.

Panasonic Prepares Potential Return to the Photographer Market

The company has not launched a Micro Four Thirds camera specifically aimed at photographers since the release of the Lumix DC-G9 II in 2023. Currently, the company leaves this specific segment largely to competitors like the OM Pen, which is listed for $1,099 on Amazon. A new release would mark a change for Panasonic’s photography lineup and a potential re-entry into the photographer-focused MFT market.

Specifically, the control dial on the top of the device looks slightly taller. Meanwhile, the thumb grip on the rear of the body appears marginally smaller than its full-frame counterpart. No specifications, pricing, or launch dates beyond a potential release window have been officially confirmed by the manufacturer.

Anniversary Events Offer Timing Clues

If the retailer listing is accurate, the camera could hit the market very soon given that the images have already made their way to a retail platform. Panasonic is planning a series of events to mark Lumix’s 25th anniversary. These events are taking place from November 17 to December 4, which could serve as launch events for this new camera according to reporting.
