84 members of ‘Economy is Democratic Party’ launched, led by Kim Tae-nyeon, 5th term

The Democratic Party of Korea’s Livelihood and Economic Crisis Response Committee, a livelihood policy organization led by Lee Jae-myung, has been re-launched as a study group with over 80 members. It appears that the party is focusing its power on the livelihood and economic sectors ahead of the launch of the ‘Lee Jae-myung 2nd leadership’ system.
The Democratic Party’s economic study group, ‘Economy is Democratic Party’, began its full-fledged activities by holding an inauguration ceremony at the National Assembly today.
It was formed under the leadership of five-term lawmaker Kim Tae-nyeon, who led the party’s People’s Livelihood and Economic Crisis Countermeasures Committee established by former leader Lee Jae-myung in the 21st National Assembly. It has 84 members, with three-term lawmaker Yoo Dong-soo serving as the steering committee chairman and two-term lawmaker Kim Han-gyu serving as the secretary.
They plan to promote lectures, seminars, field visits, and publication of data collections, targeting a competent economic party.
A meeting official said, “We will raise the awareness of lawmakers and support their legislative activities through briefings on various economic issues, while also primarily pursuing joint policy actions such as proposing bills and announcing economic policies.”
Representative Kim Tae-nyeon criticized the Yoon Seok-yeol government’s economy as a complete failure, calling it tax cuts. He emphasized, “The Democratic Party will scrap the incompetent economy of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and present a competent economy.”
Park Chan-dae, acting party leader and floor leader, said, “The Democratic Party is a party that studies in any situation,” and “The economy will be transformed into a competent economic party through the Democratic Party.”
In his written congratulatory address, Lee Jae-myung, the party’s representative candidate, also said, “I will create a competent ruling party that will revive the economy and the people’s lives.”
‘Economy is Democratic Party’ will hold a summer economic camp every Tuesday for the entire month. It will cover strategies to respond to the spread of fears of a recession originating in the U.S., structural domestic demand slump and alternatives in the Korean economy, understanding the real estate market, and future technologies that will feed the Republic of Korea.
