Leasing operations fall 5.2% in July

The renting of Passenger Cars, Industrial Vehicles, Agricultural Vehicles and SUVs registered 148,301 operations until July 2022, which represented a reduction of 5.2% compared to the previous year, according to figures provided by the Spanish Association of Leasing and Renting (AELR) . These figures mean that more than 2 out of 10 vehicles -22.8%- that were registered in Spain last month were through renting.

By segments, in the first seven months of the year the renting of Passenger Cars fell by 2.6%, to 122,732 operations signed. In total, 17,197 vans were rented, 21.5% less; 5,940 SUV rental operations were signed, with an increase of 5.8%.

On the other hand, Truck leasing contracts totaled 1,170, 34.5% less, and Agricultural Renting mobilized 1,243 operations, 10.1% more.

By type of propulsion, in the first seven months of 2022, 61,217 diesel vehicles were registered for renting, which represented 41.3% of the total acquired through renting. Gasoline vehicles registered for renting were 83,064, 56% of the total.

Electric cars, liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas together accounted for 2.7% of the total leased, up to 4,020 vehicles. Within this chapter, the electric ones were the most sold -3,139- and represented 2.1% of the total renting.

As for registrations, including both new and used vehicles, 98,757 purchases were made in July, 10.1% less than in the same month of the previous year. Volkswagen was the brand that registered the most vehicles through renting in July -2,436-, 14.7% less than in the same month of 2021.
