A passenger plane from Jordan to the Lebanese capital Beirut was landing when a gunshot unexpectedly hit the plane.
Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident. This incident took place last Wednesday.
Possession of weapons and firearms is very common in Lebanon. There are many occasions when public events such as politicians’ speeches and announcement of official exam results are held there, guns are fired like firecrackers.
Mohammed El-Hout of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The missiles fired from areas near Beirut Airport miss the way and an average of eight planes are hit every year.
“These practices of airspace shooting in Lebanon must stop. It endangers air traffic and the airport,” he said.
Lebanese Minister Bala Yacobian was on board the plane when the crash occurred. He shared pictures of the damaged plane. In this regard, he said, “There must be an end to such practices of uncontrolled arms and shooting in Lebanon.”
