The IDF continues its intense bombing in Lebanon. The Lebanese National News Agency YEARS Five Israeli attacks on Beirut‘s southern suburbs and its surroundings reported on Saturday, four of them “very violent”, shortly after Israel called for the evacuation of several neighborhoods in this Hezbollah stronghold.

AFP journalists heard several explosions and saw smoke rising from Beirut’s southern suburbs. Ambulances rushed to the scene, according to ANI, which had also reported the presence of Israeli reconnaissance drones flying at low altitude before the attacks.

AFP images showed plumes of smoke rising from targeted areas and a large fireball projected into the sky. Burning debris spread, causing secondary fires and a thick cloud of smoke.

Air traffic at Lebanon’s only airport, near the southern outskirts of Beirut, “continues despite the Israeli enemy’s aggression” against this area, ANI said. The news agency added that several planes from Middle East Airlines (MEA), the only airline continuing to serve Beirut, had just landed.

The southern suburbs of Beirut have been regularly bombed for several days, especially at night, by the Israeli army which generally issues evacuation warnings in advance.

Many residents of this Hezbollah stronghold, engaged in border hostilities with Israel since the offensive on Gaza began in October 2023, have fled to other Lebanese regions since Israel stepped up its bombing campaign on September 23.
