Stars of the Dream Team Were the Main Names of the Last Decade of the NBA
Stars of the Dream Team of the United States in men’s basketball at the Olympics, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, have a history of rivalry and prominence in the NBA. Despite years of competition in the league, the two players maintain a good relationship both on and off the court and even share the same birthplace.
The two biggest names of the last generation of basketball are natives of the small town of Akron, Ohio, which has fewer than 200,000 inhabitants. Coincidentally, the duo was born in the same hospital, LeBron in December 1984, and Curry in March 1988. While Steph spent little time in his hometown, having moved to North Carolina just months after his birth, the two have maintained a connection to their shared origins.
Despite the fierce rivalry that emerged during the four years when the Golden State Warriors, led by Curry, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by James, decided the league, the hometown boys have a good relationship off the court. According to the Warriors’ guard, the two met in 2008, even before Curry entered the NBA. The following year, they faced each other in Cleveland, and LeBron invited him to dinner at his home.
Steph also described his relationship with James as “complex.” Initially, LeBron played the role of “mentor” for the then young Golden State Warriors player. However, camaraderie gave way to fierce rivalry and four consecutive NBA Finals. Today, with both being more distanced from the major battles in the American league, friendship seems to prevail.
