LeBron James. 20th All-Star appearance (Reuters)
The NBA’s All-Star Weekend will take place in Indianapolis in about three weeks and tonight (between Thursday and Friday) the five players were revealed for the All-Star Game, which is known to return this year to the original format of East vs. West. LeBron James will be the captain on one side and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the other side.
The East Five: Tyrese Halliburton, Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid
The West Five: Shay Gilges Alexander, Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Nikola Jokic
The vote was divided into 50% of the fans’ votes, 25% of the players’ choice and 25% of the media’s vote. The ‘King’ made history by becoming the first player ever to be selected 20 times as an All-Star, after matching Kareem Abdul-Jabr’s 19 appearances last year.
The one who stands out in his absence is Jaylen Brunson who had a tremendous season and remained outside the top five in the East. He will of course be on the bench, with the rest of the players participating in the class being determined by the league coaches and announced in a week. The games will take place from February 16 to 18 at the Indiana Hall.
