FC Nantes overcame Toulouse (3-1) on Sunday afternoon at La Beaujoire, during the 4th day of Ligue 1. It was the Canaries’ first victory in the league.
FC Nantes won their first victory in Ligue 1 this season on Sunday by beating (3-1) the promoted Toulouse, at La Beaujoire, during the 4th day of the championship. La Beaujoire can exult, Nantes finally holds its first success thanks to a very good second period.
In the first half, FC Nantes rather dominated by getting the biggest chances, first with Andrei Girotto who touched Dupé’s crossbar by landing a big powerful shot from 35 meters (10th). The Téfécé goalkeeper even made an impressive double save, at close range on a shot from Guessand then on his line by pushing away the head of Fabio (25th). A domination of the Canaries who nevertheless pay for their too friable defense: on a long and magnificent service from Branco Van den Boomen, Zakaria Aboukhlal volleyed from the left to open the scoring against Alban Lafont (15th).
The second period is marked by the rapid awakening of Nantes. On a cross in force at the near post from Simon, Guessand perfectly crossed his head to equalize (50th). Remake a few later on the right side with Guessand who offered a caviar on the head of Mostafa Mohamed (55th). After long minutes of verification at the VAR, the third goal scored by Simon on a pass from Guessand is validated, putting the Canaries permanently in the shelter. In 20 minutes, Kombouaré’s men turned the tide: Toulouse pushed well, even touching Lafont’s bar on a strike from Chaïbi (71st) but the locals mastered this second act until the final whistle.
In the standings, Nantes temporarily climbs to 8th position on equal points with their opponent of the day.
