Filming without consent of citizens walking their dogs
Under current law, Jindo dogs are not required to wear muzzles.
Broadcaster Lee Gyeong-gyu‘s new web entertainment show ‘Respect Refrigerator’ was embroiled in controversy after it was pointed out that it forced Jindo dogs to wear muzzles and filmed citizens without their consent.
On the 10th, the YouTube channel ‘LERKK Lee Gyeong-gyu’ released the ‘Respect Refrigerator’ video as new YouTube content.
It was structured by finding people who fulfilled all of the ‘respect list’ for each round, selecting ‘respect, well, and awards’ (objects who respect well) and giving them gifts.
In the first episode, the show was looking for someone who follows pet rules when walking their dog.
The ‘pet ticket essential list’ included manner water (water for washing away the dog’s urine), identification tag, and muzzle.
In the video, Lee Gyeong-gyu emphasized, “I wish people would wear muzzles when walking with large dogs.”
He said, “It is legally okay to not wear a Jindo dog with a muzzle,” but “some people wear muzzles because other people may think they are a bit threatening.” “Those people are worthy of respect,” he said.
The video showed dog owners walking their Jindo dogs.
The fact that muzzles are not required for Jindo dogs has been mentioned several times in subtitles. However, the MCs said, “I didn’t wear a muzzle,” or a subtitle saying, “No muzzle this time,” also appeared, making it seem as if the dog owners had committed an illegal act.

Netizens said, “Please don’t discriminate against Jindo dogs. Jindo is neither a vicious dog nor a dog required to wear a muzzle. They showed reflections such as “I am a public figure, so please do not give false information to viewers” and “Shooting without consent is a hidden camera.”
There are currently a lot of requests from dog owners to take down the video. The video is still public. The production team of the ‘Lekeke Lee Gyeong-gyu’ channel, which uploaded ‘Respect Refrigerator’, has also made no comment regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, the video clearly states that filming cooperation was received from the park operation of the Western Park Leisure Center and the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail Park.
