The Democratic Party won a landslide victory in this general election, winning 175 seats, including proportional seats. The People Power Party won 108 seats, and the ruling-Soviet opposition situation continued in the 22nd National Assembly.
Representative Lee said, “The general election is over, but the difficult situation for people’s livelihood is not over yet. Regardless of the ruling or opposition party, we must do our best to properly follow the people’s will contained in the election, alleviate the suffering of the people and overcome the economic crisis.” .
He continued, “The people made the Democratic Party the number one party in the National Assembly. “He also gave me a heavy responsibility as the largest single seat for the opposition party,” he said, and pledged, “I will definitely keep my promise to be a loyal tool for the people with a humbler attitude.”
Regarding President Yoon, he said, “After the election, he will reform the government and do his best to stabilize the economy and people’s livelihood. “I sincerely welcome you,” he said. “Please make sure to put it into practice.”
He said, “Many people are disappointed by the politics of the past two years that lack dialogue, cooperation, and coexistence,” and added, “The Democratic Party will repay the people with politics in practice, not politics in words.” He emphasized, “I will consider the results of this election as a stern command from the people and accept them without hesitation.”
Representative Cho Kuk of the Fatherland Innovation Party and elected proportional representatives also visited the National Cemetery, following the Democratic Party. Representative Cho wrote in the guestbook, ‘I will engage in politics with the determination to live or die, keeping in mind the will of the heroes who sacrificed themselves to save my homeland in crisis.’
The Fatherland Innovation Party secured 12 proportional representation seats in this general election. A month after its founding, the party entered the National Assembly as the third party in the National Assembly following the two major parties.
