In the regional primary for the election of the next leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, the party’s representative candidate, continued his lead with a voter turnout of 88%.

On the morning of the 28th, the Democratic Party held the ‘1st National Party Member Convention (National Convention) Party Representative and Supreme Council Member Candidate Joint Speech’ at the Chungnam Transportation Training Center and announced the results of an online vote conducted for party members in the Chungnam region.

In the party leadership primary, this candidate received 11,342 votes (88.87%), far ahead of candidates Kim Du-kwan (1,186 votes, 9.29%) and Kim Ji-soo (234 votes, 1.83%). Following his victory in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regional primaries the previous day, this candidate also continued his lead in Chungnam.

As of the previous day, this candidate’s total cumulative vote rate was 63,376 votes (90.89%), far ahead of candidates Kim Du-kwan (5,594 votes, 8.02%) and Kim Ji-soo (760 votes, 1.09%). Previously, this candidate recorded a cumulative vote rate of 91.7% in the Jeju, Incheon, Gangwon, and Daegu/Gyeongbuk primaries held last weekend.

In the primary for the Supreme Council member, Supreme Council member candidate Kim Min-seok recorded the highest voter turnout with 5,264 votes (20.62%). Candidate Kim, who has “Myeongsim” (Lee Jae-myung’s intention) on his back, defeated “outsider whirlwind” candidate Jeong Bong-ju in South Chungcheong Province, following “Buulkyung,” and took first place in the same region.

Following them were Jeong Bong-ju (4,324 votes, 16.94%), Jeon Hyeon-hee (3,394 votes, 13.30%), Han Jun-ho (3,273 votes, 12.82%), Kim Byeong-ju (3,252 votes, 12.74%), Lee Eun-ju (3,101 votes, 12.15%), Min Hyeong-bae (1,474 votes, 5.77%), and Kang Sun-woo (1,442 votes, 5.65%). The Democratic Party will elect five supreme council members this time.

The Chungnam Provincial Party’s online voting electoral college consists of a total of 59,320 members, of which 12,762 participated, and the voter turnout rate was 25.06%. ARS voting will be held from August 17 to 18 for the electoral college of party members who were unable to participate in the online voting.
