Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong attended the International Skills Olympics in France as a representative of a sponsor during the Chuseok holiday. He also continued his on-site management, such as visiting a Polish electronics store, before joining the Czech economic delegation starting on the 19th.

According to Samsung Electronics on the 18th, Chairman Lee attended the closing ceremony of the ‘2024 Lyon International Skills Olympics’ held at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, France on the 15th (local time). Samsung has been sponsoring the International Skills Olympics since 2007 to expand the base of technical talent and foster excellent talent.

When Chairman Lee arrived at the scene and went straight to where the Korean national team was gathered, the players stood up and cheered. Chairman Lee congratulated all the players for about 5 minutes by patting their shoulders and shaking their hands, and even took a ‘selfie’ with them. He then personally presented the medals to the players during the awards ceremony. Chairman Lee told the players, “The sweat of young technical talents is the foundation of the technological powerhouse of the Republic of Korea,” and “I will spare no support so that you can be respected and grow as technical professionals without having to go to college.”

Next, Chairman Lee visited Warsaw, Poland from the 16th to the 18th to conduct on-site management during the holiday season. At a local Samsung store, he discussed business strategies for smartphones, TVs, vacuum cleaners, etc., and visited Media Markt, a large European electronics retailer, to check local consumer responses. He then held a meeting with employees at the research center and toured a home appliance production plant. Samsung Electronics entered Poland in 1990 and currently operates a production corporation in Wronki and a sales corporation and research center in Warsaw. Chairman Lee has continued on-site management by visiting overseas business sites every holiday season to inspect local operations and encourage employees.
