The movie ‘Escape’ has surpassed 2 million viewers.
According to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council on the 24th, ‘Escape’ recorded a cumulative audience of 2,004,722 by mobilizing 46,887 viewers on the 23rd, taking first place at the box office.
‘Escape’ surpassed 1 million viewers in 10 days after its release on the 3rd of this month, and 2 million viewers in 21 days. ‘Escape’ is the first Korean film released this summer to surpass 2 million viewers. It also garnered even more attention as it is the only Korean film released since ‘The Outlaws 4’ in April to have surpassed 2 million viewers.
Director Lee Jong-pil and lead actors Lee Je-hoon and Koo Kyo-hwan appeared in a thank you video for surpassing 2 million views and sent out fighting words. Their explosive response is a warm laugh, a joyous response to the box office success of ‘Escape’ and a warm response to the audience’s favorable reviews.
‘Escape’ is a film that depicts the life-threatening chase between Gyu-nam (played by Lee Jae-hoon), a North Korean soldier who starts an escape for tomorrow, and Hyun-sang (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), a security officer who chases after Gyu-nam to protect today.
Meanwhile, ‘Inside Out 2’ met with 27,633 viewers on this day, rising one spot from the previous day to take 2nd place. The cumulative audience number is 8,113,964. 3rd place is ‘Detective Conan: Million Dollar Pentagram’ with 26,148 viewers, bringing the cumulative audience number to 433,133.
