Rep. A, who saw Mrs. Kim’s Telegram text message, is… me… Interference in general election? Ambiguous

President Yoon Seok-yeol shakes hands with People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok after arriving at Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, with his wife Kim Keon-hee on July 1, 2022, after completing his first visit to the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) summit in Madrid, Spain, which lasted three nights and five days. Rep. Lee Jun-seok of the New Reform Party warned that if President Yoon Seok-yeol does not change his perception of the political situation, he will have no choice but to repeat the “misdeeds of past presidents.”

On the 16th, the lawmaker emphasized on SBS Radio’s ‘Kim Tae-hyun’s Political Show’ that “the only thing a president can do in the latter half of his term is ‘his own safe retirement.”

He continued, “Although President Lee Myung-bak received a lot of criticism, he opened up the space for the next runner, Park Geun-hye, to come forward, and so he lived safely after leaving office (until the Moon Jae-in administration came to power).”

However, he said, “President Yoon Seok-yeol is leading the country to a situation where no matter who takes power, it will be viewed negatively,” and “This is a sign of another bloody battle in the political history of the Republic of Korea, so the president must quickly change his mind and stabilize the political situation.”

Regarding the current political situation, Rep. Lee criticized, “In the past, when we were investigating the election law, we tried to strike a balance between the ruling and opposition parties, but now the political situation is almost 3 to 1 or 4 to 1, with the opposition party at 3 and the ruling party at 1,” and “This is because someone gave the president bad advice.”

In other words, he said, “We can greatly expand the political situation and grab the opposition party members by the scruff of the neck to lead the political situation in our favor.”

The lawmaker said, “That is not a number of seats that can be overcome. The opposition party has 192 seats,” and added, “If we do not correct that wrong idea, we will be in big trouble.”

He expressed concern, saying, “From the perspective of Democratic Party lawmakers, they will judge that ‘President Yoon is a person who cannot compromise,’ and will turn to impeaching him as soon as possible.”

Despite this seriousness, the lawmaker said, “President Yoon seems to be under the illusion that he still has one step left,” and added, “Last year, there was the Busan Expo and the Gangseo District Office election left, and now there is the Lee Jae-myung judicial risk, Pohang Petroleum, etc. (he is talking about this). Is this how he always makes political decisions?”

When asked whether he would get involved in the next presidential election, the lawmaker said, “I am not interested in helping with the presidential election,” and made a pointed statement, saying, “My experience of having two female presidents was not very good.”

Meanwhile, regarding the ‘suspicion of primary intervention’ in which Ms. Kim Gun-hee sent a text message to former lawmaker Kim Young-sun recommending that he move his constituency from Changwon’s Chang to Gimhae Gap ahead of the 22nd general election, he criticized, “The Democratic Party said, ‘Lee Jun-seok says it was not primary intervention, and his statement is different from that of lawmaker A who saw the text message,'” and hit back, “The lawmaker A who saw it is me.”

The lawmaker said, “Dozens of people have seen it, but those who have seen it all agree that it is ambiguous to call it interference in the nomination process,” and that it was not interference in the nomination process.
