Singer Lee Sun-hee personally stated her position on the suspicions surrounding her agency Hook Entertainment and the results of the subsequent investigation.
On the 29th, Lee Sun-hee released an official statement saying, “Hello, I am singer Lee Sun-hee. 40 years ago today, I first met you all with a trembling heart on the stage called ‘Riverside Song Festival’, and as a singer, I have always lived with a grateful heart, receiving an abundance of love for a long time.”
He continued, “Last year, I was subjected to intense questioning by investigative authorities regarding suspicions related to Hook Entertainment. The investigative authorities viewed that there were no problems with other suspicions, but determined that it was difficult to prove that some of the corporate card usage records of my personal corporate company, One Entertainment, from 2011 to 2022 were used for business purposes. Accordingly, a summary fine order was issued, which I humbly accepted with a reflective heart.”
Lee Sun-hee said, “For the past 40 years, I have received much love from many people and lived as a public figure as a singer. I should have been thorough in everything I did without neglecting even the smallest thing more than anyone else, but I have reflected a lot on the things I missed by making excuses about not knowing much.” She continued, “More than anything, I once again apologize for disappointing all the fans who have found comfort and hope in my songs for the past 40 years. From now on, I will live without being ashamed of being just a singer named Lee Sun-hee.”
He also added, “I apologize for greeting you after such a long time and for bringing you bad news.”
Meanwhile, Lee Sun-hee was investigated in September of last year on charges of personal misuse of the corporate card of Won Entertainment, where she was the CEO (breach of trust).
Won Entertainment is Lee Sun-hee’s private company that was liquidated in August 2022. The police confirmed that not only Lee Sun-hee but also her family members used the corporate card for personal purposes and sent the case to the prosecution.
In relation to this, Lee Sun-hee’s side stated at the time, “Lee Sun-hee faithfully participated in the investigation and actively explained the related suspicions, and the police confirmed that most of the suspicions raised against Lee Sun-hee were different from the truth,” and “The portion that was sent to the prosecution this time is only a very small portion, and the prosecution plans to conduct additional investigations into this.”
