Relay Challenge to Reduce Plastic Use
Park Hyeon-cheol, CEO of Buguk Securities, was nominated.
President Lee Yong-bae recommends CEO of Hyundai Motor Securities as the next runner
Hyundai Rotem announced that CEO Lee Yong-bae participated in the ‘Bye Bye Plastic Challenge’ with executives and employees on the 26th.
The Bye Bye Plastic Challenge is a national relay campaign launched by the Ministry of Environment. After the participants share their commitment to action, they nominate the next participant. Hyundai Rotem, which seeks to strengthen ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management, has been carrying out various activities to reduce the use of disposable products such as plastic. We provide tumblers as a ‘welcome kit’ to new employees to encourage them to naturally reduce the use of disposable products, and we are also expanding employee participation in plogging (an environmental cleanup activity that involves picking up trash while walking or jogging).
Thanks to this management direction, Hyundai Rotem received an integrated A+ (excellent) rating in the ‘2024 Listed Company ESG Evaluation and Rating Results’ announced by the Korea ESG Standards Institute. It is an evaluation that the management strategy, will to implement, and efforts for sustainable management have been recognized.
Lee Yong-bae, CEO of Hyundai Rotem, said, “We hope that the culture of reducing plastic use will further spread through this challenge.” He added, “As a leading ESG company, we will continue to carry out sustainable management and activities.”
In the case of President Lee Yong-bae, he was nominated by Park Hyeon-cheol, CEO of Buguk Securities, and participated in this challenge. President Lee nominated Bae Hyeong-geun, CEO of Hyundai Motor Securities, as the next runner.
