While uncertainty continues regarding the possible merger between Jumbo Visma and Soudal Quick Step, new rumors have appeared. They are positive and shed more light on the facts.

The thing is that, according to HLN, Patrick Lefevere would not be the bad guy in the film and would even be working to develop a new team that would offer work to those who are left without a contract in the event that the merger occurs.

There is no further information yet, but it is known that Lefevere only owns 20% of the structure, while the remaining 80% belongs to millionaire Bakala. Although the veteran manager wants to retire, the decision with those percentages would not be his, so everything indicates that the merger is the work of the majority owner.

Furthermore, as many in the cycling community affirm, Lefevere would not leave so many people on the street without warning and with so little clarity. The fact that he is working on releasing a new line-up confirms that.

Although they are rumors, if they are confirmed they will give a little hope to the victims. Of course, it remains to be seen under what conditions they would continue since if no one takes over the QuickStep license (and it seems unlikely that Lefevere can) then a World Tour team will be lost until 2026. That would lead to this possible new block of the Belgian to race in a lower division.
