Christian Lindner is actually a social media professional. However, a post by the finance minister is causing outrage among the Left Party.

Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner visited the anti-aircraft missile group 61 on Thursday and then published pictures of it on the Instagram platform. On the cover of the photo series, the minister can be seen with a Fliegerfaust 2 Stinger and, as a reservist in the Air Force, this is not the first time that he has shown himself to be a Bundeswehr enthusiast.

The article and especially the first picture were well received by Lindner fans. Apparently also by FDP local politician Paul Bressel, who commented on Lindner’s article: “FDP, if the Left calls for a wealth tax again.” Lindner seems to have liked the comment and reacted with a laughing and clapping smiley.

But Lindner’s reaction is not well received by everyone – especially not by the Left Party. Party chairman Martin Schirdewan told t-online: “It is understandable that the FDP, as the watchdog of the rich, is fully opposed to the introduction of a wealth tax. But stupid fantasies of violence go too far.”

Commenting on the Left’s demands for a wealth tax in this way is “presumptuous”. And the Left politician adds: “The public applause of FDP chairman Lindner for the murder and violence fantasies of his party colleagues is unworthy of a discussion among democrats.”

Lindner should therefore “immediately clarify what he means with his comment and call his party colleagues to order when they stoop to the level of radicalized right-wing extremists instead of applauding them.” Allowing such behavior to continue and not correcting it is “unacceptable and intolerable” for someone in Lindner’s position.
