Legal Showdown: Athena Linou Sends Cease-and-Desist to Pavlos Polakis Amidst Accusations and Controversy

by time news

Athina Linou sent a warning letter to Pavlos Polakis, as she announced in a post, with the independent MP responding that “I do not take back a word.”

In the warning letter, the SYRIZA MP speaks of “vulgar reactions” and “false accusations” against her by Mr. Polakis “which have as their sole cause your expulsion from the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, an act absolutely necessary for the cleansing of parliamentary work and the restoration of normality in public discourse.”

Ms. Linou accuses Mr. Polakis that “the false and defamatory announcements and posts you made about me and the NGO PROLEPSIS have one and only purpose: to mislead, according to your familiar tactic, both public opinion and SYRIZA officials regarding the work of PROLEPSIS so that the reason for your removal may be forgotten in the public sphere.”

She also points out that “you know very well that both my scientific and public life, as well as the activities of the NGO PROLEPSIS, have been consistently and absolutely transparent for decades.”

Ms. Linou calls on Mr. Polakis, within three working days, “to withdraw and delete from the internet all false, defamatory, and self-serving references to her and the NGO PROLEPSIS.”

In the event of non-compliance, she states that she will pursue legal action before the competent civil and criminal courts both in Greece and in any foreign country where the aforementioned posts became known.

P. Polakis: I do not take back a word

In a response post, Mr. Polakis stated that “I do not take back a word from the evidence I posted and the posts I made.”

He also pointed out, addressing Ms. Linou, that “the one who should be held accountable is you and your company that enters into contracts concealing direct assignments, that you give 320,000 euros to a catering subsidiary with zero revenues and which then goes into liquidation, that you get paid without the mandate being checked by the auditor, that there are no records anywhere of the schools and the children to whom you provided the snacks, etc.”

“If we had prosecutors in this country, they would have already called you,” he added, and continued: “I’m waiting for the meeting of the Regional Council of Central Greece next week, and then I will do what is necessary.”

“Regarding the political judgments you express in your warning letter, Ms. Linou, I consider them unworthy of response. Each of our paths and presence, both past and recent, is known,” he added.

In another part of his post, Mr. Polakis, among other things, mentioned: “Well, Mr. Director of the President’s Office. Still haven’t drawn a conclusion from the pages Ms. Linou sent you??? When you were in the Transparency Sector with me, you were very quick. What happened now? Did your judgment go dark?”
