Legalization of same-sex marriage in Cuba: Approval by referendum

HAVANA: Cuba has legalized same-sex marriage in a referendum. Communist rule is in progress in Cuba. Here it was decided to enact a ‘Family Act’ regarding same-sex marriage, adoption of children and surrogacy. Religious leaders strongly opposed this law which was brought in last 2019. In this case, it was decided to hold a referendum on whether to legalize same-sex marriage and adoption. Accordingly, the election was held yesterday. 84 lakh people above 16 years of age voted.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel and his wife Havana also went to the polls to cast their votes. In this poll, only yes and no answers were given to the question asking if they accept the above laws. In the end, 66.9 percent of the votes were recorded in favor of the family law. 33% were opposed. With this, same-sex marriages, heterosexuals can adopt children. This is being celebrated by transgender people.
