Hidden is the all-time legend of football. Pele is the only member of the team to have won three World Cups. He was a member of the Brazil team that won the 1958, 1962 and 1970 World Cups. Scored 77 goals in Brazil jersey. He was also selected as the Sportsman of the Century by the International Olympic Committee.
Real name was Edson Aranez do Nascimento. His parents gave him the name of Thomas Edison. Later, the nickname Pele came from Vasco goalkeeper Bilay. Pele is one of the best footballers the world has ever seen. He started playing for the professional club Santos at the age of fifteen. Pele joined the Brazilian football team at the age of 16 while performing brilliantly.
The first match was against traditional rivals Argentina. Brazil lost 1-2 to Argentina that day, but Pele made his debut by scoring the lone goal for Brazil. In 1958, at the age of seventeen, he captured the attention of the entire football world with his World Cup final against Sweden. In 1962 and 1963, Sanros won the Intercontinental Cup. Pele was the highest paid athlete during his playing career.
His ability to score with both feet set him apart from others. Pele scored 1297 goals in 1367 matches.
