Asteras AKTOR made a big “splash” and announced the hiring of the French football legend, Claude Makélélé, who will take the reins of the Arkadians for this season.
Claude Makélélé arrived in Greece and Athens on Friday afternoon, officially taking the helm of Asteras AKTOR.
Makélélé had been in advanced discussions with the management of Asteras AKTOR in recent days, and after everything went smoothly, the French coach arrived in Athens at noon on Friday (13/09) at “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
Afterward, the football legend traveled to Tripoli, where he received a rapturous welcome from the fans and signed his contract with the Arkadians, which lasts for one year with an option for another year.

Mr. Claude Makélélé Sinda, as his full name is, was born on February 18, 1973, in the city of Kinshasa, Zaire.

THE BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Claude Makélélé is a significant football personality, with experiences and titles at the highest level of world football.
As a coach, he has worked with the French club Bastia and the Belgian club Eupen, where he was head coach for two years with 70 matches on its bench. He has also gained valuable coaching experience, having served as an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti and Laurent Blanc at the French club Paris Saint-Germain, and later to Paul Clement at Swansea in Wales. In recent years, he has been part of the staff at the English club Chelsea, taking on a role in the Academies and as a technical advisor.
As a player, he had a remarkable career as a defensive midfielder both with the French National Team and with the top-tier clubs he played for. He was a key member of the French national team for over ten years, participating in two Euros, in 2004 and 2008, as well as two World Cups, in 2002 and 2006, where he even reached the final! He also participated in the Olympic Games in 1996.
He played for the following clubs: Nantes, Marseille, Celta Vigo, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain. He won the Champions League in the 2001-2002 season with Real Madrid, the UEFA Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, as well as two Spanish championships with them (2001-2003), and the Copa del Rey. He also won the Premier League twice with Chelsea (2005-2006), as well as the English League Cup, while he was crowned champion early in his football career, in 1995, with French club Nantes.
