In honor. Serge Klarsfeld, co-founder of the association “Sons and Daughters of Jewish Deportees of France”, and Line Renaud, co-founder of Sidaction, are part of the promotion of July 14 of the Legion of Honor published Thursday in the Official Journal.
Serge Klarsfeld is elevated to the highest distinction, that of Grand Cross. Lawyer and historian, he is also honorary ambassador of Unesco for the teaching of the history of the Holocaust. His wife, Beate Klarsfeld, of all his fights, including the hunt for former Nazis, is promoted to Grand Officer. Line Renaud also attains the rank of Grand Cross, as does Jean-Pierre Raffarin, former Prime Minister.
In addition to the three grand crosses, this promotion of July 14 is divided between 270 knights, 39 officers, 14 commanders and three grand officers (329 people in total). The immunologist Alain Fischer, president of the vaccine strategy orientation council, is made a grand officer, while the title of commander goes to Véronique Cayla, president of the Académie des César.

Journalist Claire Chazal becomes an officer, as does Catherine Pgard, president of the Palace of Versailles. The actress Marlène Jobert and the singer Rhoda Scott are knighted.
The title of commander goes to Jean Castex, former Prime Minister, as well as to Roselyne Bachelot and Jean-Pierre Chevènement, former ministers. Former ministers Jean-Michel Blanquer, Françoise Parly and Jean-Yves Le Drian are on their side made officers.

In sports, are named knight Luis Fernandez, former international footballer, Fabien Galthié, coach of the XV of France, or Annick Hayraud, manager of the French women’s rugby union team.
