Today, the party of Léon Blum, Jean Jaurès and François Mitterrand has achieved the unthinkable: posting the dismal score of 1.75% in the first round of the presidential election, behind the Communist Party (2.3%), environmentalists (4.6%) and especially the now all-powerful Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the Insoumis.
