In this four-page text, the Socialists, who began discussions on Wednesday with LFI, present their “answers” to the “twelve markers” discussed by the formation of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, and make additional proposals “in fidelity to our fundamentals and our priorities, by valuing the convergences and without hiding the differences”, they write. For her part, the president of the Occitanie region chose to take up a quote from Pierre Mendès France, according to whom “Morality in politics prohibits strategy and convictions from diverging, even for reasons of transitory opportunity”.

The Socialists also reaffirm “the need for full and complete support for the Ukrainian nation, its freedom and its sovereignty, in the face of the aggression decided by Vladimir Putin”. Regarding “the right to retire at age 60”, the PS, which until then was not convinced financially, offers “a first step including taking into account long careers and arduous jobs”. It also validates “the repeal of the unemployment insurance reform and the regressive provisions introduced into the Labor Code by the El Khomri law (of 2016, under François Hollande, editor’s note) and the Macron orders”, signed in 2017.

A few days before the deadline for finding a historic agreement with LFI, the PS emphasizes that “the shared program, based on the real search for convergence, must be the guarantee of a real desire to govern together in the service of the working classes and averages of this country”, but “is not intended to make disappear the identity and the political history of the ones and the others”.
