Legislative: why are so many environmental “small candidates” running?

by time news

It is well known that nature abhors a vacuum. By joining the Nupes, Europe Écologie-les Verts agreed to have only 100 candidates in the legislative elections, the others being from the various parties of the union (PS, LFI, PCF, Génération.s). But it is not because there are no EELV representatives in 477 constituencies that there are no environmental candidates at all. Quite the contrary. It is this nuance that is most present, with 786 candidates (excluding those from EELV supported by Nupes, therefore). This means that there are, on average, 1.53 candidates considered by the Ministry of the Interior as environmentalists in each constituency. The highest figure of all shades.
