Marvel Comics and Star Wars will collide in January 2027 with the launch of Kevin Smith’s six-issue crossover series Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles, featuring reality-shattering battles between Earth-616 heroes and the Galactic Empire alongside a companion LEGO Ideas building competition.
Nearly five decades after Marvel published the very first Star Wars comic in April 1977, characters from a galaxy far, far away are finally crossing paths with Marvel’s superhero roster on the printed page. Announced during a panel at New York Comic Con, the crossover event has expanded from an initial five-issue run to a six-issue limited series written by Kevin Smith with interior art by David Marquez.

Interior artwork debuts from the opening issue show Iron Man and the Human Torch dropping directly into the fight, while Captain America, Thor, the Thing, Black Widow, Black Panther, and the Invisible Woman charge past stormtroopers. Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain praised the creative direction, noting that Kevin Smith has written a true love letter to Star Wars, to Marvel, and to comics in general.
Back in the early ’80s, I had a subscription to Marvel’s Star Wars comics. And as fun as it was to follow the continuing adventures of Luke, Leia, and Han, I always wished that Spider-Man or Doctor Doom could cross over into their cinematic saga,Kevin Smith, actor, director and Marvel Comics writer

LEGO Ideas Launches Cross-Universe Building Challenge
To coincide with the comic announcement, LEGO Ideas launched a dedicated fan challenge inviting builders to construct their own cross-universe mashups in bricks. Submissions are open across three distinct challenge themes, giving fans an official path to see their designs immortalized.

- Vehicle Fusion: Combining iconic spaceships and transport tech from both universes.
- Character Fusion: Reimagining heroes and villains as blended entities, such as a Wookiee-Wolverine hybrid or an evil machinery-cursed Iron Man.
- Scene Fusion: Recreating cross-universe moments in LEGO block form.
Fede Begher, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Group at the LEGO Group, noted that fans can build with both Marvel and Star Wars in a single LEGO Ideas challenge for the very first time.
