Lego’s new computer game – a must for Star Wars fans

by time news

For years, it seems that a series of Lego games is stuck behind in some loop of simple and mediocre gameplay. Despite this, a large part of the games in recent years have been fun, mainly thanks to the use of favorite brands like Harry Potter, Marvel or DC, along with the humor of the game developers, which made the games in the series a kind of loving parody.

Just when it seems that even the most ardent fans of the series are tired of that simple and unrefined gameplay, “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” arrives, and finally updates it. It’s not the first Star Wars World Lego game, but it seems that this time the developers, Traveller’s Tale have really gone out of their way to bring the game series to our time.

It starts with the scope of the game, which includes basically the entire main film series, which consists of three trilogies – which are nine films. The plot of the films is all delivered almost entirely, with the same familiar sense of humor, which includes mostly harmless physical and slapstick humor, which almost always manages to amuse.

The graphics themselves have also been upgraded. Lego tools made of plastic have never looked so similar to their counterparts in reality. This time also a large part of the effects, such as water or fire, look like their plastic version, which adds a lot to the atmosphere and the feeling that this is actually a world that is all Lego. A large part of the environments themselves also consist of different Lego parts, although you can still find quite a few more “realistic” environments, which feel like a backdrop on which all the Lego parts of the game have been placed, and a bit of a pity.

But the main upgrade comes in the gameplay itself, the one that has made all the dozens of games in the series to date similar and repetitive. The battle system has been upgraded and in fact is no longer similar to the old one. Instead of hitting enemies with one button and that’s it, this time you can combine punches and kicks, create combos, dodge enemy blows and more. In fact, it’s a system similar to Batman’s “Arkham” series of games, only slightly more forgiving. If your character also holds a weapon like an assault rifle, controlling it is reminiscent of the “Gears of War” series of games, with a camera behind the characters’ shoulder, with the option to hide behind objects or walls and a target that helps aim more accurately.

And of course, there is also the battle system with the light swords of the Jedi Knights, which has also become more complex, with superpowers and more precise control of the sword. It has never been more fun to be a Jedi Knight of Lego.

And if all that is not enough, this time, all the tens of thousands of coins you have collected, like the previous Lego games, can be used to acquire new abilities or improvements for the characters. The game has nine types of characters, such as a Jedi knight, an armed warrior, a mechanic and more. Each has different roles, as well as different abilities that can be upgraded with the money you earn. In each stage of the game, you can control two of the large selection of characters in the game. Occasionally you will have to jump from one to another to perform certain tasks that only one can perform, such as the ability of the Droid C3PO to control computers or Luke Skywalker’s Jedi powers.

The variety of screens has also been improved immeasurably. You will never find yourself playing the same way for long enough to get bored. Each film in the series consists of five main stages, along with a few shorter stages. In each of them you will play different characters and will be required to perform a different task. For one moment I was Princess Leah, who must find R2D2 to convey the important message to Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a second later, I was Luke Skywalker as he flew his X-Wing, blowing the Death Star to pieces.

If you are a fan of “Star Wars”, even the smallest ones, you must play this game, which will manage to excite, put a smile on your face and also be really fun for children – and also for adults. If you are a Lego fan, it seems to me that you do not even need this review to encourage you to buy it.
