by times news cr

Speaking during a ministerial round table on the theme “Transport and climate change: Moving forward after COP28”, organized as part of the 2024 Summit of the International Transport Forum (FIT), the minister stressed that this strategic charter will include a vision global approach, guiding principles, clear objectives and commitments from all stakeholders, with a view to unifying efforts at all levels of governance and decision-making.

This initiative, which will encompass all modes of road, rail and air transport, “places Morocco as a pioneer in the adoption of sustainable transport practices, in line with its international commitments made at COP28 and in other other global executives,” he noted.

The minister discussed the measures necessary to achieve the objectives set at COP28, recalling that these objectives consist of intensifying efforts to eliminate fossil fuels, tripling the world’s renewable energy capacity and reducing emissions in the transport sector.

In this sense, he highlighted the need to create a national orientation framework to apply the decisions of COP28 and strengthen decarbonization ambitions at the national and international level, noting that the future national charter for inclusive and sustainable mobility in Morocco fits into this perspective.

A high-level Moroccan delegation, led by Mr. Abdeljalil, is taking part in the work of the FIT 2024 Summit, which is being held from May 22 to 24 in Leipzig under the theme “Making transport greener: Let’s stay focused in times of crisis ”.

The Moroccan delegation, made up of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and public establishments and companies under supervision, as well as other ministerial departments and public and private organizations, participates in the various ministerial sessions, round tables and conferences of this event, the world’s largest gathering of transport ministers and the first event on transport policy on an international scale.
