This resident believed that the deceased lived in a three-room unit, while the other man lived in a two-room flat. According to the resident, the men would be topless and shout Hokkien vulgarities at each other.
Another resident, who identified himself as Joel, provided footage from a security camera outside his home to The Straits Times. The recording captured roughly three minutes of an intense verbal argument, during which one individual threatened the other. Joel, a private tutor, noted that he had a cordial relationship with the man who died. He added that the man who died never got along with the other neighbor and would take the stairs just to avoid him.
Despite the persistent friction, the fatal outcome came as a shock to those living nearby. No one thought it would escalate to this,
remarked a neighbor who had not spoken to either man.

When reporters visited the scene at about 11:45am on July 21, the corridor showed visible signs of the struggle, including blood droplets and a bloodied footprint. Another neighbor who declined to be named said a knife was thrown from the 16th floor and landed in front of a coffee shop. While the police confirmed that both parties were known to each other, they have not yet released specific details regarding the weapon or the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal injury.
