jpnn.com – PARIS – Wilfredo Leon ‘King”s last two aces ensured Poland’s victory over Brazil in the 5th set of the Pool B qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Poland won the deciding set with a tight score of 15-12.
Polish outside hitter Leon King showed his fangs. Appearing fierce throughout the match, the player who celebrated his 31st birthday today scored two aces in the last two points.
Cuban-born Leon went wild, showing his steely nerves in crucial moments, not giving up safe serves, but killer ones.
At the end of the match, Leon emerged as the top scorer with 26 points, namely 21 attacks, two block points, and three aces.
In the previous four sets, the two countries that are the ‘mecca’ of world men’s volleyball put on a super tight battle, taking turns winning sets.
The first set belonged to Brazil 25-22.
Poland won the second set 25-19.
Poland follows Italy who have already qualified for the quarter-finals of the men’s volleyball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
