Leonardo DiCaprio Remembers Sharon Stone’s Generosity in Helping Launch His Career

In a recent interview with E! News, Leonardo DiCaprio revealed that he is still grateful for Sharon Stone’s generosity in helping to launch his career. Stone, who was a producer on the 1995 movie “The Quick and the Dead,” backed hiring a then-unknown DiCaprio for a role in the film.

In her 2021 memoir, Stone shared that the studio initially resisted hiring DiCaprio and told her that if she wanted him so much, she could pay him out of her own salary. Without hesitation, Stone did just that, ensuring that DiCaprio was cast in the movie.

DiCaprio expressed his gratitude, stating “I cannot thank her enough” and revealed that he has thanked Stone “many times” for her act of generosity. While he doesn’t know if he sent her an actual, physical thank-you gift, DiCaprio emphasized that he is incredibly thankful for Stone’s support.

Stone’s advocacy for DiCaprio didn’t stop there. In the same memoir, she also mentioned that she asked for Russell Crowe to appear in the movie, directed by Sam Raimi, noting that DiCaprio and Crowe were the two actors she wanted to work with.

DiCaprio spoke highly of Stone’s support, acknowledging her as a “huge champion of cinema” who has been instrumental in giving other actors opportunities. Stone, in her memoir, highlighted that DiCaprio was the “only one who nailed the audition” and praised his performance in a pivotal scene.

As DiCaprio continues to thrive in his career, he credits Stone’s generosity for helping to launch his success in the industry.
