The award is a sign of contemporary cinema in full swing, it lets us “look ahead and welcome diversity and change,” said the festival’s artistic director, Giona A. Nazzaro. The trophy will be presented to Reichardt (58) on August 12 on the Piazza Grande. Her films “Meek’s Cutoff” and “Night Moves” will also be screened at the 75th edition of the festival from August 3rd to 13th.

Reichardt presented her first feature film “River of Grass” (1994) at the Sundance Film Festival and at the Berlinale. After that she turned to short films until 2006 when she brought out the next feature film “Old Joy”. Her film “Wendy and Lucy” (2008) was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.
