On Wednesday July 12, a punchy film will be released in theaters on green algae in Brittany, nitrate pollution, at the time denounced by a whistleblower.

It is the fight of a lifetime: that of Inès Léraud against the scourge of green algae. Very quickly, the journalist will come up against the wall of silence. Two deaths are suspected to be linked to the emanation of toxic gases from green algae. “It’s completely phenomenal, what she has accomplished”, testifies Céline Sallette, actress. Behind these phenomena lies an intensive agricultural model that sustains an entire region. Green algae proliferate because of nitrogen fertilizer balls, which proliferate in waterways.

Inès Léraud is co-screenwriter

Inès Léraud settled in Brittany for this investigation. She also co-wrote the film. “What I find captivating in this film is that it is based on real events, with a thriller dimension”, she underlines. From the beginning of the previews in Brittany, the rooms are full. The film denounces a very polluting agri-food system.
