Leslie David Baker Announces Refund of Donations for Proposed Office Spinoff

Actor Leslie David Baker, known for his role as Stanley Hudson on the hit sitcom “The Office,” has announced that he will be refunding all donations made by fans for a proposed spinoff centered around his character. The announcement was made in an Instagram post shared on Thursday.

The spinoff, called “Uncle Stan,” was intended to focus on a retired Stanley who receives a call from his nephew seeking help with his children and running a motorcycle/flower shop. The project was launched in 2020 through a Kickstarter campaign with a crowdfunding goal of $300,000.

Baker and his business partner, Sardar Khan, issued a statement apologizing for the delays and assuring fans that they were working behind the scenes to fulfill the project. However, the ongoing writers and actors strikes caused further delays and have now led to the series being put on hold indefinitely until an agreement is reached.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to refund our backers,” Baker wrote. He also promised to fulfill backers’ rewards as a token of appreciation for their support and patience. The exact amount to be refunded is $110,629.81, despite the campaign page showing a total funded amount of $336,450.53. Baker clarified that many backers’ pledges were lowered or dropped once the campaign was completed.

“We sincerely apologize for any miscommunication or inconvenience during this campaign… Thank you for all your love and support,” the statement concluded.

Baker expressed his gratitude to fans for their support and teased the potential return of the Stanley Hudson character in videos shared on social media last year. He thanked fans for their support in the campaign and emphasized the goal of bringing a high-quality program to the fans who have been supportive throughout his career.

While the spinoff series may be on hold for now, fans can still look forward to future projects from Leslie David Baker.
