The situation in the Middle East has sharply worsened since the death of the chairman of the political bureau of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran and the liquidation of one of the commanders of the military wing of the Shiite movement Hezbollah, Fuad Shokr, in Beirut last month. Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah have placed responsibility for the incident on Israel and have stated that they will not leave it unanswered. The authorities of the Jewish state have not commented on the death of Haniyeh, and called the liquidation of Shokr a response to the shelling of the Druze village of Majdal Shams on the Golan Heights, where 12 children were killed.
