Tejada commented at a press conference that of these nearly 36,000 businesses, between 8,000 (22%) and 10,000 (28%) economic units have insurance.

“From 8,000 to 10,000 are insured (tourism businesses), so we think that 26,000 companies will not have any type of insurance and will be the ones that will have to look for some credit or some support or they will not open again, which we hope will be the smallest number. of companies,” he commented.

In addition, he assured the workers in the Acapulco resort will maintain their income, largely due to the large hotel and restaurant consortiums, which he said are aware of the emergency after Otis and have funds to deal with this type of emergency prior to their recovery. .

However, he did not rule out that some micro, small and medium-sized companies will have to seek support from the Mexican Government or some credit from financial institutions to solve these labor obligations.

According to data, insurers estimate that only 16,000 properties and 20,000 vehicles are insured, although the damage reached more than 90% of the homes and 80% of the hotels, on the coast of Guerrero, Mexican Pacific, which has damage to the 65% of its extension.
