Jean-Michel Aulas, 74, the former president of OL, gave his reading of the violent incidents which led to the cancellation of the Olimpico on Sunday, in an interview with L’Equipe this Tuesday evening.

As usual, the historic president of OL does not mince his words: “The match must not be postponed, but the sanctions must fall, this time, definitively. If we postpone the match, we give the authors and those who watch them the opportunity to start again. »

Although the affair, which occurred outside the stadium, is in the hands of the League competitions committee and not the disciplinary committee, Aulas calls for the severity of the leaders of professional football: “I let to the people who are responsible for it to decide to do it in their soul and conscience. But there must be a very heavy sanction. Otherwise, next time there will be deaths. Fabio could have lost an eye. »

Indirectly, Aulas points to the responsibility of public authorities: “I do not want my positions to be interpreted in the wrong way. But it’s true that it’s incomprehensible. If we look at all the reports established for the last matches in Marseille, we can clearly see that the route and the protection of the OL coach were the subject of very particular attention. There, we see that the police escort is very small. She is even arrested at one point when we arrive in front of the famous bar where the supporters are gathered. (…) I am upset to see that we are not taking all the precautions to prevent this from happening. There were a number of reports that the attacks were planned.”

Finally, according to the former president, it would be simple to eradicate the Nazi salutes and other monkey cries noted in the ranks of the Lyon ultras: “It is unacceptable. Most of the 600 Lyon supporters revolted against this small group of around fifteen people who inserted themselves into the system without the knowledge of the organizers. It’s unbearable. It’s easy to find the authors. There are cameras. They must be judged and excluded. » Concerning the behavior of these pseudo Lyon supporters, the League Disciplinary Commission has investigated the matter and will render its decision on Wednesday, November 22.
