However, I will tell the Chhatra League that there should be systematic politics in Buet, no politics of violence, no damage to education; Take care of that. Apart from this, some political frogs have emerged from Dhaka University. I will tell the Chhatra League to beware of them.
Hashan Mahmud said these things at the Eid gift distribution ceremony organized by the Chhatra League on behalf of the Prime Minister at the TSC premises of DU on Tuesday (April 9).
He said, I am surprised to see a movement to stop student politics in educational institutions like Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET). And the administration accepts it. It is not a democratic decision by any means, it is a stubborn decision.
Hasan Mahmud also said that there was always student politics in BUET. Many BUET students have led the country through politics. The current government is working to build a humanitarian state.
Awami League’s joint general secretary also said, “I request the Chhatra League to cut the tickets of those who opposed metro rail in Dhaka University.”
Incidentally, BUET student Abrar Fahad was beaten to death in 2019. After this incident, an emergency notification was issued to ban political activities in the campus. On April 1 this year, the High Court suspended the notification banning student politics in BUET. And after five years, the way to continue the politics of mainstream student organizations is open again.
