Letters from readers: silent voices

How sad to hear today the opportunistic voices of the characters who did, do, and will continue to do so much harm to the country, condemning the very serious events that occurred in the sister province of Jujuy. They are the same voices that in December 2013, while Tucumán was on fire, abandoned at the mercy of criminals, fell silent so forcefully that the silence became deafening. In Plaza de Mayo, at the head of that silence, happy and boisterous celebrating 30 years of a democracy that was falling apart here, was the ineffable Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, playing the drum and dancing, surrounded by a crowd of obsequious kept up with him. People sang, and by the hand of a renowned artist, she asked God that her pain was not indifferent to him. At the same time, in Tucumán, pain crossed the souls of thousands of forgotten and violated Tucumans. In the province, Kirchnerism ruled, with “the best governor in the history of Tucumán”, Don José Jorge Alperovich, accompanied, without exception, by all those who currently lead the destinies of this detonated land, who not only contributed silence at that time , but also an extraordinary inability to resolve a police conflict that could easily have been avoided. That sad December produced a balance of 13 deaths, according to unofficial figures, and thousands of businessmen, merchants and workers looted and in ruins. A town assaulted by criminals, first, and repressed by the government, later. The possibility of federal intervention never crept in; there was not even a simple presidential tweet telling the current governor to take charge of the situation, and to stop with the repressive madness. In short, the prevailing political hypocrisy is not the path that will get us out of the gloomy situation in which we find ourselves. I support the demands and claims of the original peoples, the teachers and the health personnel of Jujuy, but not the forms, clearly adopted by violent factions alien to them. I pray to God that peace reigns again, we must stop this madness, adopt dialogue, because whatever political color comes to power, the years ahead are very difficult for any good citizen who loves his country. You, do you love yours?
