Jonathan Tah would like to join FC Bayern Munich, but the record champions are apparently playing for time. This annoys Bayer boss Fernando Carro, who first criticizes sharply and then apologizes.

In the transfer poker for Bayer Leverkusen’s national player Jonathan Tah, Bayer boss Fernando Carro first criticized FC Bayern Munich unusually harshly and then immediately apologized. “I am an emotional person. I made the statements about Max Eberl in an informal exchange with Bayer 04 fans. It was not my intention that they should be taken up and multiplied in this form. But that does not change the statement, for which I hereby apologize,” Carro told “Bild”.

The background to this is the stalemate surrounding Tah that has been going on for weeks. The 28-year-old central defender, whose contract with the double winners expires in the summer of 2025, is still training in Leverkusen. The clubs are said to have long since reached agreement on the terms and conditions and the transfer fee of 25 million euros plus bonuses.

The only requirement is that Bayern Munich sells players beforehand. The sales of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United for a total of around 60 million euros are now official, but the record champions are not expected to push for Tah’s signing any further.

A difficult situation for Bayer. Carro had already told Bild a few days ago: “In addition to the modalities of a transfer, we also have to keep an eye on the time. There is not much of that left, because we also still have to be able to react.”
