Rico Lewis expressed his delight following City’s stunning 4-2 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The hosts took the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta, but Kevin De Bruyne he equalized ten minutes later with an excellent shot.
Shortly after half-time, Lewis completed the comeback, slotting into the bottom corner for his second league goal, both against the Eagles.
Erling Haaland extended our lead to 3-1 and De Bruyne he scored our fourth of the afternoon and his 100th in a City shirt, before Odsonne Edouard scored for the hosts.
“It’s a difficult place to come. We thank them very much [os torcedores] because they mean a lot to us,” Lewis said after the game. “To get a result like this today is incredible, not only for us, but for them too.
“The main message was to move forward and persist, because we have to continue and most of our games will be like this, where we control the game and the opponent is behind.
“The chances will come. The message was to get into the box and that’s what I did today.
“As a child you dream of scoring a goal and celebrating. This season I played more in midfield, so I want more goals and assists.
“Yes, of course, just like any other title race [todo jogo é obrigatório vencer]. We have to win every game and there are three teams, so we have to be the strongest team.
“This team has done this so many times, we have experience and I’m sure we will start and do it again.”
The player raised at the club’s academy had a confident performance, moving from right-back to central midfield, making 71 touches of the ball and completing 57 passes.
The 19-year-old is taking advantage of the chance to shine in midfield, but reiterated that he will play wherever the coach sees fit.
“I like playing in midfield more,” he declared. “As a kid you want to score goals and assists, that’s what you see on TV.
“That’s what I want to be in the future, but the coach decides where I will be most effective.”
